Hardware Producer Explains How the 3DS’ “Tag Mode” Works
GameLife’s Chris Kohler sat down with Hideki Konno, Producer, Manager of Nintendo’s EAD Software Development Group 1 and man in charge of designing the 3DS’ Tag Mode.
At E3, it was mentioned that the 3DS would bring back the Tag Mode function that was implemented in some DS games (Dragon Quest IX, Nintendogs), but would take it one step further and make it so that both systems didn’t need to have the actual game in the slot for it to work.
Konno explained in the interview just how he plans to make this improved function work.
“In the hardware, we have the capability that when you first play a game that supports Tag Mode, it will save to a Tag Mode data slot in the hardware system. We are planning to support multiple games at the same time: Mario Kart, Nintendogs, Animal Crossing, etc.”
He went on to clarify how users will be able to manage their Tag Mode data.
“… we’ll prepare a Tag Mode Viewer, where if you look at the viewer you’ll be able to see that, for example you were able to connect with 50 people in Nintendogs and got their data, or got 100 people in Animal Crossing.”
The rest of the interview, which also discusses the hardware’s changes and the possibility of “3DSWare,” can be found here.
Get This Horribly Awesome Hat By Pre-Ordering Sonic Colors
Remember how I said those Sonic DS wallets would guarantee you some furry tail at the next big con? Well, screw that, because SEGA’s got your new ticket to getting all that… ugh… fursuit-wearing action.
Sonic Colors pre-orders made at participating GameStops will come with this Sonic hat (which is actually quite similar in build to the Maxwell “rooster” hat for Scribblenauts). Since the game is coming out for both the Wii and DS, it’s actually possible to get two hats if you choose to put money down on both versions.
No commentsA Couple of Metroid: Other M Videos
Two new videos for Metroid: Other M have gone up; one of gameplay, and the other of a cinematic of Samus.
For whatever reason, I’ve never noticed how fast the action in the game really is until only recently. Not only are enemies, like those Skrees in the beginning of the first video, pretty quick, but Samus has definitely become a lot more agile and quicker with that arm cannon than she was in the Metroid Prime series.
View the other video after the jump.
Other M is due out in stores August 31.
