Fans Translate Metroid: Other M Developer Video

July 19th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

The Metroid: Other M developer interview videos from the Japanese Nintendo Channel have been translated by the dedicated fans over at The Metroid Database.

The first half introduces the mission statement for Other M, and covers the basics in developing things like a working control scheme using only the Wii Remote.

The second half goes more into the behind-the-scenes problem solving like using visual tricks to make Samus’ arm cannon look like it’s firing instantaneously, or finding a compromise between competing ideas on how to portray Samus.

Part Two is posted after the break.

Official Translation Clears Up Sakaguchi’s “Last Game” Confusion

July 19th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

Last week, a post on the Mistwalker blog suggested that Final Fantasy creator and head of Mistwalker Hironobu Sakaguchi may be done making games. However, an official translation of that post has finally gone up, clearing up the confusion surrounding Sakaguchi’s future in the industry.

“The energy poured into this project by the development team and I are 120%. I’m hoping you can understand that, however on the other hand, I feel worried and nervous like sending my child on a trip alone. Emotionally it feels like this is my last work, while pouring everything I have gotten into this project.”

So, The Last Story isn’t Sakaguchi’s last game. After all the work and effort he’s put into it, it just feels like it is.

Nintendo Announces Comic-Con Line-Up

July 19th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

Going to Comic-Con? We are! Nintendo is too!

After dropping the bomb at E3 just last month, Nintendo has decided to play it cool in their first year back at The Con after a four-year break. The showstoppers that debuted in L.A. won’t be in attendance in San Diego, but the upcoming Metroid: Other M will be on the show floor for attendees to play around with before it releases next month.

The recently released Dragon Quest IX will also be playable at the Nintendo booth, and anyone who brings in their copy will be able to download a special treasure map through the game’s Tag Mode. Just like with the GameStop event, players will need to have made it to Stornway and have access to the Quester’s Rest Inn.
