Pictures of GameStop’s Other M Art Folio

August 31st, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

Just got back from picking up Metroid:Other M and the pre-order “Art Folio.” The bonus is stuffed with cards featuring character art, game screens and some cinematic stills.

Since the scanner doesn’t like to play nice with my computer, I had to resort to my iPhone for these pictures. So, please forgive the quality.

Sakura Taisen VI In the Works? Possibly A Wii Exclusive?

August 31st, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

Rumor stemming from an unsourced image from Twitter suggests that SEGA is working on a new Sakura Taisen game and it will be on the Wii.

It’s worth noting that Ohji Hiroi, the series’ creator, said that there would be “something interesting” in next month’s Famitsu. Could Sakura Wars VI be it?

The series, of which only one has seen release in Europe and North America (Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love), has a large following back in Japan, but judging from the sales numbers that fell below publisher NIS America’s expectations, a Western release is not likely.

… If this is even real, that is.

NES AI At Its Finest

August 30th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

Bunt home run in Family Stadium (which would later be known as R.B.I. Baseball on the NES).

All I can think of while watching this is the second “Anthology of Interest” episode of Futurama, where Fry fails to stop the Nintendians and their leader Lrrr explains their mistake:

“You are defeated. Instead of shooting where I was, you should have shot where I was going to be. Muahahahaha!”

To be fair, that guy is pretty freaking fast. he makes Speedy Gonzales look like Regular Gonzales.

Okay, I’ll stop with the Futurama references.

Price Cuts Incoming for DSi, DSi XL

August 30th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

Nintendo of America announced price cuts for the DSi and DSi XL today. Both handhelds will see a $20 drop, putting the DSi at a $149.99 price point and the DSi XL at $169.99. There will be no change in the price of the DS lite.

The new prices will take effect on September 12.

Even though the DSi’s added capabilities never really amounted to anything, especially now with the 3DS as Nintendo’s main focus, I still think its a decent sidegrade to the DS lite. The brighter screens, arguably better buttons (I still prefer the mushy D-pad on the lite), cameras and DSiWare did give serve as a temptation to pick up the Game Boy Micro of this generation of handhelds even if there was nothing wrong with their current DS.

Obligatory press release after the break.

November Will See A Dark Dawn

August 30th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

The much-anticipated Golden Sun: Dark Dawn won’t give you much time to anticipate it. In a press release sent out by Nintendo, it was announced that the third Golden Sun game will arrive in North America on November 29.

In a stroke of irony, Dark Dawn‘s launch will actually signify the end of the Black Friday weekend.

See the full press release after the break.

Don’t Make This Wooden ExciteBike-themed Bike Overheat

August 28th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

Oh, ExciteBike. Your sequels may have moved on to “big damn trucks” and robots, but we still remember the joys of lining ourselves up with course ramps and going off sweet jumps. Justin Harder seems to remember, as well. He put together this wooden replica of the ExciteBike bike, trophy and even helmet and padding.

He has a bunch of pictures of the bike and accessories as they were being built on his studio’s Flickr.

You Got Your Mario in My Sonic!

August 27th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

What happens when you have the license for both The Super Mario Bros. Super Show and The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and a general disregard for sound effects? You get this episode of TAoStH. Skip ahead to the 1:42 mark.

I suppose it’s still better than modern sitcoms still using 80s Pac Man bleeps and bloops when people are using stuff like DSes or 360 controllers.

Lose Track of Time with “GROW Valley”

August 27th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

It’s been a while since we’ve posted about a flash game. We used to do that, remember? Well, it’s been a slow news day we’ve just decided to do it again, you know, for fun!

ON, the person who made the GROW series of flash games, has a brand new game out. GROW Valley takes the same simple mechanics of the previous games — click on the icons in different orders to try and max out all of their levels — and places them in a new scenario. It’s not recommended that you play this when you have things you wish to get done, as you will lose track of time.

After you’ve “beaten” the game, you way want to try and find the secret ending. I’m sure that’ll take another chunk out of your day.

Play Grow Valley
