Blurry Scans Show Pokémon XD on the 3DS

April 30th, 2011 | Category: Uncategorized

If these scans are to be believed, the GameCube’s Pokémon XD may be getting ported to the 3DS.

While we can confirm the validity of thes scans, the image’s use of the E3 model 3DS (note the blue circle pad) suggests this could be fake.

Cave Story 3D Gets A Release Date

April 29th, 2011 | Category: Uncategorized

Publisher NIS America announced today that Cave Story 3D will be released in North America on August 9. Europe’s launch will follow shorty afterwards in September.

A batch of screenshots of the current build of the game are up on the NIS online store. I can’t say I like the new 3D look over the sprites of the PC/WiiWare versions, but as the images state, the game is still in development and there is plenty of time to spruce things up.

A placeholder site for the game is up. Expect to see more stuff added to it as the game gets closer to release.

Mother 1+2 Translation Patch Gets Released

April 29th, 2011 | Category: Uncategorized

Version 1.0 of the Mother 1+2 English translation is now available for download. The patch translates all of Mother 1 (Earthbound Zero) and most of the menus and names in Mother 2 (Earthbound).

A ROM of Mother 1+2 for the GBA is required in order to apply the patch, but with the questionable legality of ROMs, it’s up to you to figure out how to acquire one.

Aksys Selling BlazBlue Shirts to Benefit Japan Tomorrow

April 28th, 2011 | Category: Uncategorized

Developer Arc System Works is sold off some BlazBlue shirts last month to raise money for disaster relief for the victims of the Tōhoku earthquake in Japan. Unfortunately, orders were limited to Japan only.

However, Aksys Games has gotten a batch of these shirts (more pictures here) and, starting tomorrow at 1 PST, they will be selling them off to folks in the US (sorry, everywhere else). Just like their partners at Arc System Works, all the proceeds will go to help Japan. As an added bonus, Aksys will match the amount of money raised by the sale!

So, by getting a $20 shirt, it’s like you are donating $40 to the people of Japan.

Keep your eyes on @aksysgames and @AksysGames_Ben for details on how to purchase a shirt.

  • Minor tweaks were made to some character models to improve performance.
  • With the exceptions of animated cutscenes, the game has been enhanced to make use of the 3DS 3D capabilities.
  • No additional content (i.e. weapons or environments).
  • No online or StreetPass functions.

Beyond the Labyrinth Looks Gorgeous

April 28th, 2011 | Category: Uncategorized

Tri-Ace really wants to make their presence known on the 3DS. Their 3DS debut title Beyond the Labyrinth looks amazing. There’s definitely a Ico/Shadow of the Colosus vibe to these screenshots.

We posted about the project’s announcement yesterday, but there are a few new details:

  • It’s a 3D dungeon RPG.
  • The girl in the screenshots will be important to the storyline.
  • It’s unknown if she is the main character.
  • It will take place in ruins and other similar locations.

The latest issue of Nintendo Power has confirmed that the 3DS port of Tales of the Abyss will be getting a North American release.

No time frame was given for when we can expect to play the game, but I’ll be sure to look for any mention of a date when my issue arrives sometime in the near future.

Rhythm Heaven Wii Will Have Button Controls

April 27th, 2011 | Category: Uncategorized

No need to worry about less-than-precise motion controls mucking up your play in Rhythm Heaven for the Wii. At yesterday’s investor’s meeting, it was announced that the game will be played with the Wii Remote buttons only.

For a game that requires such precise timing, eschewing waggle is a wise and welcome decision.

Rhythm Heaven is due out in Japan this summer.
