Pokémon Cards and Toys Coming to McDonalds Next Month

May 31st, 2011 | Category: Uncategorized

Beginning June 17, McDonald’s Happy Meals will come with toys based on the new pokémon from the Black & White series.

The toys will also be accompanied with one of twelve cards for the Pokémon Trading Card Game.

Given the possible combinations of toys and cards, only the truly die-hard (or possibly rich and fat) Pokémon fans will likely catch ’em all.

Heroes of Ruin Teaser Trailer Doesn’t Reveal Much

May 31st, 2011 | Category: Uncategorized

After accidentally leaking the game on facebook, n-Space and Square Enix’s Heroes of Ruin has officially been announced. The first trailer for the game has come out… and it shows us absolutely nothing about the game.

Fortunately, Square Enix also released a few screenshots, so we can at least see what the game looks like.

The Mercenaries 3D North American Commercial

May 30th, 2011 | Category: Uncategorized

With the game’s June 28 release date already official, it’s weird to see it still say “summer 2011” in the commercial.

Square Enix/n-Space 3DS Project Leaked on Facebook

May 30th, 2011 | Category: Uncategorized

A quickly-deleted post on the n-Space company facebook revealed that the developer behind the DS versions of Goldeneye and the Call of Duty games are working with Square Enix on a four-player co-op 3DS game called Heroes of Ruin.

Nintendo Power has some details on the game:

  • Local and Online co-op for up to four players.
  • Multiplayer will allow people to freely drop-in/drop-out of games.
  • Will support voice chat.
  • Customizable weapons, armor and classes.
  • SpotPass DLC has been announced.

n-Space announced they were working on three 3DS titles back in April. With a big collaboration like Heroes of Ruin being one of them, I wonder what kind of surprises we can expect from the other two games.

A Look At Ocarina of Time 3D’s Guide System

May 30th, 2011 | Category: Uncategorized

Just like Mario Galaxy, Ocarina of Time 3D gets its own version of the  auto-playing “Super Guide.” However, rather than just solving the puzzle for you, it appears that the game just gives you a video of what you need to do.

I have a feeling OoT newbies will be using this feature somewhere around the Water Temple.

Tool-Assisted Red Coin Run in Mario 64

May 28th, 2011 | Category: Uncategorized

Tool-assisted speedruns are nothing new, and Mario 64 TAS runs have been around forever. But there’s just something about that final backwards long jump/wall kick combo that brings a big smile to my face.

Fourth Layton Game Trademarked In North America

May 27th, 2011 | Category: Uncategorized

A trademark for “Professor Layton and the Last Specter” was filed by Level-5 in the U.S. recently, suggesting that the game may be primed for a release outside of Japan.

Siliconera, who discovered the trademark, points out that something similar happened with Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, in that a trademark for the game was discovered not long before an official release announcement was made.

The rest of the world is still lagging behind Japan, who have been enjoying the fifth Layton game, The Mask of Miracle, since February’s 3DS launch.

Localization on this series really needs to speed up. At this rate, North America and Europe won’t see the Layton/Ace Attorney crossover until 2013, and if the Mayans are right, we won’t see the game at all.

The game comes out late next month, capping off the small surge in big-name titles for the 3DS (DoA:Dimensions, BlazBlue and Ocarina of Time).
