Unreal Engine 4 Can Be Scaled to Run on Wii U

March 30th, 2013 | Category: Uncategorized

Unreal Engine 4

Following the controversy surrounding Marc Rein’s comments regarding the Wii U’s ability to utilize Unreal Engine 4, the Epic Games co-founder clarified in an interview with Engadget that, thanks to the scalability of the engine, it would actually be able to run on Nintendo’s console.

“If someone wants to take Unreal Engine 4 and ship a game on Wii U, they can,” said Rein. “If they wanna ship an Unreal Engine 4 game on Xbox 360, they could make it happen.”

Rein caused a bit of a stir earlier this week at this year’s Game Developers Conference after he laughed when asked if Unreal Engine 4 would be able to run on the Wii U.

3DS LL Club Nintendo Color Docks

Not content with releasing multiple new handheld colors, Nintendo is now making colored 3DS LL charging cradles available to Japanese Club Nintendo members for 200 Coins a piece.

While it may seem vain having a charging cradle to match your 3DS LL, it’s worth remembering that the handheld didn’t come with a charger and cradle when it launched in Japan.

Darksiders II Disappearing from Europe’s eShop After March 31

March 29th, 2013 | Category: Uncategorized

Darksiders II 00

According to a notice posted by Nintendo on the European eShop, Darksiders II will no longer be available for download after March 31. A reason for its removal was not given, but it may be due to the troubles surrounding THQ and the fact that the franchise was not purchased during the company’s asset fire sale.

Don’t worry about losing the game if you’ve already purchased it in the eShop, Nintendo reassures owners that they will still be able to re-download it after it’s taken down.

So far, the removal only applies to Europe. A similar notice has not popped up in North America.

Battlefield 4 Not Coming to Wii U

March 27th, 2013 | Category: Uncategorized

Battlefield 4

The latest installment in DICE’s military-themed FPS won’t be coming to the Wii U.

Battlefield 4‘s creative director Lars Gustavsson told VideoGamer that the decision to pass over the Nintendo’s console was to avoid risking failure by spreading themselves too thin.

“I think overall for me as creative director, number one is to deliver a really great game and experience. Sometimes, at least for us, it’s focus on what you do well and what you know well, and ensure that you deliver something good than trying a bit too much, stretching yourself too thin and risking it.”

EA plans to release Battlefield 4 on the 360, PS3 and PC later this year.

Don’t get too down, though. I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to see the game coming to the Wii U a year or so later after the player base has firmly rooted itself in the 360, PS3 and PC, selling poorly because of it and avoiding any kind of blame by having a company representative say something along the lines of “Well, these kinds of games just don’t sell on the Wii U.”
