Mighty No. 9 Engine Test Footage

September 30th, 2013 | Category: Uncategorized

Inti Creates put together a very rough version of Mighty No. 9 in a week to test the Unreal Engine and see if it would be a good fit for the game.

The footage isn’t indicative of what the final build will be like. The art assets aren’t even finalized, they’re just placeholders used for this test. However, it is the earliest footage of Beck moving around and shooting stuff.

The Kickstarter, which just passed the $3 million mark, ends in less than two days, but that’s still enough time to raise the $700,000 to add PS4, Xbox One, PS Vita and 3DS support along with a bonus single-player stage where you get to play as the heroine Call.

SteamWorld Dig Makers Are Developing Another Game in the Series

September 28th, 2013 | Category: Uncategorized

SteamWorld Dig Logo

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the developers at Image & Form would be hard at work on a new game in the SteamWorld series. SteamWorld Dig: A Fistful of Dirt launched earlier this year to tons of critical acclaim and has become a massively popular title in the 3DS eShop.

During an interview at this year’s Eurogamer Expo, company CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson confirmed development of the third game in the series.

“We’ve come quite far developing the next game in the SteamWorld series, and we’re waiting for the right moment to announce more details.”

It’ll be interesting to see where Image & Form take the series. SteamWorld Dig managed to combine elements from indie hits like Spelunky and Terraria, while the first SteamWorld game was a tower defense title.

Mighty No. 9 3DS/Vita Stretch Goal Announced

September 27th, 2013 | Category: Uncategorized

Mighty No. 9 Stretch Goals

There’s a chance that Comcept’s Mega Man-inspired platformer Mighty No. 9 could come to the 3DS and Vita if they raise enough money.

The latest Kickstarter stretch goal is set at $3,500,000. At the time of this post, the total amount of pledges sit at $2,658,244. So, that means there’s only four days to raise $842,000.

In related Mighty No. 9 news, voting has opened for the design of Call, Beck’s support and assistant to Dr. Sanda. Basically, she is to Beck and Roll is to Mega Man.

This round of voting is open to the public, but after the top three designs are chosen they will be refined and voted on again, this time by backers only.

Video of Bravely Default in English

September 27th, 2013 | Category: Uncategorized

The first English trailer for Bravely Default has gone online, giving us our first look at the localization for Silicon Studio and Square Enix’s 3DS RPG.

It’s also our first look at the English dub, which sounds… not great. Fortunately, the game gives you the option to play with Japanese audio.

Dub quality aside, what really stands out is the audio quality. The voices sound loud and slightly blown out. I’m hoping this is just poor mixing in the trailer and not indicative of the final game.

Club Nintendo Europe Gets Limited Edition Mario Kart 7 Trophies

September 27th, 2013 | Category: Uncategorized

Mario Kart 7 Club Nintendo Trophies

For 5000 Stars, Club Nintendo Europe members can get one of four replica trophies modeled after the ones in Mario Kart 7.

The trophies aren’t really made of gold, but they are 10 to 12 cm (approximately 4 to 5 in) tall and individually numbered.

I envy the person who has the Stars to complete the set.
