“New Nintendo 3DS” and “New Nintendo 3DS LL” Announced

August 29th, 2014 | Category: Uncategorized

New Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata unveiled the latest revisions to the 3DS line: the “New Nintendo 3DS” and “New Nintendo 3DS LL.”

Similar to how the DSi was to the DS, the New Nintendo 3DS is a slight upgrade from the original model. It has a right analog nub and two additional shoulder buttons (meaning no need for a Circle Pad Pro), an integrated NFC reader (for Amiibo support), an improved web browser with HTML5 support and interchangeable outer shells.

The CPU has also gotten an upgrade, allowing developers to do things that weren’t possible on older 3DS hardware. One of the first games that will take advantage of the new processor will be a port of Xenoblade Chronicles. Unfortunately, since the game will use the system’s extra power, it will only be playable on the new 3DS.

Battery life has been improved on these models, with approximately 3.5 to 6 hours of playtime with the New 3DS and 3.5 to 7 hours on the New 3DS LL.

The New 3DS screens have wider 3D viewing angles, hopefully eliminating that jarring, double image effect from moving out of the 3D effect sweet spot. The non-LL model also has a bigger top screen – 3.88 inches (the original 3DS had a 3.53-inch top screen). The New LL has the same screen size as the original LL.

The New 3DS will sell for ¥16,000 (≈$154) and come in either White or Black, while the New 3DS LL will go for ¥18800 (≈$181) and come in either Metallic Blue or Black. Both are set to launch on October 11 in Japan.

Europe will get the new handhelds sometime next year. Nothing has been announced for North America.

Hyrule Warriors Update Hits Japan on Monday

August 27th, 2014 | Category: Uncategorized

Hyrule Warriors NES Sword

On September 1, an update for Hyrule Warriors will go live in Japan. It will add a new Challenge mode, plus the option to change your background music. It will also give Link a new (old) weapon – the original sword from the NES Legend of Zelda.

In addition to all of that, the update will address the following issues (via Cheesemeister):

■ Fixed a bug that causes maximum health to be reduced after losing a battle
■ Fixed a bug that causes audio from the TV to cut out when starting a game after playing with the Wii U GamePad only
■ Fixed a bug that causes the background music to cut out on the battle victory screen
■ Fixed a bug that rarely causes the game to crash on a black screen after winning a battle
■ Fixed a bug that causes the game to crash on an unspecified screen after turning the network connection on

A warning to those planning to update come Monday, the update will erase any mid-battle save data. It is recommended that you finish the battle first before updating to prevent any loss of progress.

Bowser Jr., Shulk and More Revealed in Possible Super Smash Bros. 3DS Leak

August 25th, 2014 | Category: Uncategorized

It’s easy to dismiss anything not revealed through an official source, but the sheer amount of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS stuff pouring in from various sources makes this really hard to ignore.

The posted video appears to show Bowser Jr. (in his Junior Clown Car) and Xenoblade Chronicles‘ Shulk as playable characters.

An imgur gallery created today has several screenshots from what appears to be an ESRB copy of the game. There are a bunch of images of some of the game’s new collectible statues, like Tharja, Tiki and Medusa, along with some shots of what appear to be a spectator gambling mode.

New Hyrule Warriors Mode Coming in Update

August 23rd, 2014 | Category: Uncategorized

An update designed to fix various bugs and glitches in Hyrule Warriors will also add another game mode, the official Japanese Hyrule Warriors Twitter account confirmed.

From Google Translate:

“Updates that address nearly defect, which has been able to confirm, was also added little new mode, development corresponding completion. We are currently checking it for the delivery. And we are working to be able to deliver as soon as possible to you! Please wait a little more!”

While fans are probably hoping the new mode is online play, it’s incredibly doubtful that something like that could be implemented in such a short time.

It’s currently unknown whether the update will be included in the English version or available as a download after launch.
