Nintendo Ending Production of the 3DS XL in Japan

November 28th, 2014 | Category: Uncategorized

3DS LL Discontinuation

Nintendo will begin phasing out the 3DS XL in Japan. The official 3DS hardware page was recently updated with messages confirming production on all currently available 3DS XL models will end soon.

However, it appears that special edition models, like the Monster Hunter 4 and Yo-Kai Watch ones may still be available.

The decision to stop making the XL is likely to encourage sales of the New 3DS XL. With the New 3DS line not out in North America, it’s currently unknown whether this production change will affect availability of the XL in the region.

Mewtwo Smash DLC

Contrary to what we’ve been hearing before, Nintendo confirmed to GameSpot that Mewtwo will eventually go on sale as a paid DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.

People who purchase and register both versions of the game with Club Nintendo, however, will still be able to get Mewtwo for free, in addition to the free game soundtrack CDs.

The company hinted at the possibility of Mewtwo becoming paid content in the rules and restriction at the bottom of the Super Smash Bros. soundtrack CD and DLC offer page.

No price has been set for Mewtwo, but it will become available for download in Spring 2015. Aside from this, Nintendo has no other plans for paid DLC for Super Smash Bros.
