My Nintendo is Now Live

My Nintendo Missions NA

Nintendo’s new customer loyalty program is finally up and running in North America and other parts of the world.

By logging into My Nintendo site with a Nintendo Account, members can view their current My Nintendo point balance, keep track of their progress on earning more points and check out all the new rewards they can purchase using said points.

One of the more interesting rewards available is WarioWare: Touched! for the 3DS. Until now, we haven’t seen a DS game released on the 3DS. According to the fine print in the game’s Reward info section, WarioWare: Touched! is actually stored on the system as a DSiWare title.

DSi Shop Scheduled to Close Next Year

March 31st, 2016 | Category: Uncategorized

Matte Red Blue DSi

Nintendo is currently in the process of gradually shutting down the DSi Shop.

DSi and DSi XL owners will be able to continue adding DSi Points to their systems until September 30. The full shutdown will take place on March 31, 2017. Users will have until then to spend any leftover points or download any software.

The closure primarily affects the DSi Shop itself. Most of the content there is already available on and compatible with the 3DS. DSi owners also have the option to transfer their DSi software to the 3DS.

Mario Super Sluggers

It looks like the listing for one of this week’s eShop releases went up a little early. Nintendo.com shows that Mario Super Sluggers will be heading to the Wii U Virtual Console tomorrow for $19.99.

Mario Super Sluggers originally released for the Wii in 2008. It plays similarly to its predecessor, Mario Superstar Baseball on the GameCube, but introduces motion controls for hitting and pitching.

Geist Developer n-Space Shuts Down

After a 21 year run, Florida-based development studio n-Space is closing down. Former n-Space artist Ben Leary confirmed the closure in a statement on his personal Twitter account.

Pokémon GO Beta Test Opens in Japan

March 29th, 2016 | Category: Uncategorized

Pokemon GO Logo

After accepting applications earlier this month, developer Niantic Labs are now inviting people to test the alternate-reality mobile game Pokémon GO in Japan.

Selections are being done through a lottery system, the company revealed. They also assured people that weren’t selected that there will be more opportunities to get in as Niantic expands the current test.

It appears that selected users are under some kind of non-disclosure agreement, as Serebii reports that some testers are being removed from the beta after they were discovered leaking information.

It is unclear how long the beta will go on, but Pokémon GO is expected to release later this year.

New Digital Storefront Coming to Nintendo.com

March 29th, 2016 | Category: Uncategorized

eShop PC Mobile

Wii U and 3DS owners have been able to buy digital copies of games from their PC or smart device through Nintendo.com for a while now, but the process has been a little clunky and the site layout leaves a lot to be desired. However, that is all changing this Thursday, when Nintendo launches a new, enhanced storefront for their company site.

Beginning March 31, users will be able to better search and filter through the myriad of eShop titles currently available. The updated storefront will also make use of My Nintendo, allowing members to earn Gold Points that can be used towards games and discounts in the eShop.

Miitomo Launching in North America and Other Countries on March 31

March 29th, 2016 | Category: Uncategorized

Miitomo Miifoto

Nintendo said Miitomo would launch in late March, and they weren’t kidding. The free-to-start communication app is coming to Apple and Android smart devices on the last day of the month, Thursday, March 31.

Pre-registration for Miitomo is still open. Anyone that signs up before the app goes live will get bonus Platinum Points for My Nintendo, the successor to the Club Nintendo customer rewards program, which is also scheduled to launch this Thursday. Platinum Points can be exchanged for free goods, like downloadable content, in-app items and more.

Miitomo launched a couple of weeks ago in Japan, where it immediately topped the iOS charts, getting downloaded by more than one million users and displacing popular messaging app Line as the most popular social-networking app in the App Store.
