Splatoon Sheldon's Picks Vol. 2

The second set of “Sheldon’s Picks,” reconfigured weapon loadouts for Splatoon, are getting added to the game on June 6. While not entirely new weapons, these new loadouts can change up the game quite a bit by opening the door for newer strategies.

In related Splatoon news, the online shooter recently celebrated its one-year anniversary this past weekend and Nintendo commemorated the event with a piece of art thanking players for supporting the game.

Rising Star Games Bringing DJMax Encore to the 3DS in Europe

May 28th, 2016 | Category: Uncategorized

DJMax Encore 3DS MCM London

European publisher Rising Star Games surprised attendees at this year’s MCM London Comic Con by debuting DJMax Encore for the 3DS.

The company has not yet released official details on the rhythm game, but Parallax Play reports that the demo appears to be influenced visually by previous entries in the series DJMax Portable 2 and DJMax Portable: Hot Tunes, while gameplay-wise, it is nearly identical to DJMax Portable 2.

Songs can be played in four-, five- or six-button modes using the D-Pad in conjunction with the Y, X and A buttons. During gameplay, note markers scroll along the bottom screen, while video and song animations play on the top screen.

No release date has been announced at this point.

Nintendo Partnering Up to Bring Super Smash Bros. to CEO 2016

May 27th, 2016 | Category: Uncategorized

Nintendo announced on Twitter that they are going to partner up with Community Effort Orlando to bring Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U to this year’s CEO tournament which is scheduled to run from June 24 to June 26 at the Wyndham Orlando Resort in Florida.

Nintendo has been more open to promoting their games in the fighting game community in recent years, and it is a welcome change, especially when your remember that, only a few years ago, the company tried to prevent Super Smash Bros. Melee from being streamed at EVO.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is already shaping up to be huge at this year’s tournament. The official CEO Gaming Twitter account reported that the game is currently their largest tournament ever, with the total number of entrants already surpassing the 512 entrants from last year.

eShop Thursday: “StarTropics is Back” Edition

May 26th, 2016 | Category: Uncategorized

Startropics

Nintendo hasn’t completely forgotten about StarTropics, apparently, as the NES adventure and its sequel Zoda’s Revenge: StarTropics II are both out for the Wii U Virtual Console today.

Admittedly, it is a bit glib to say that, given that the games did appear on the Wii Virtual Console back in 2008. It’s just a shame to see a series not see life past the NES.
