Mythical Pokémon Arceus Giveaway Ends Tomorrow

Even though the year of Mythical Pokémon giveaways is officially over, Pokémon X, Y, Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby players can still use the Mystery Gift option to get the Alpha Pokémon Arceus before Saturday, December 31.

Players in the U.S. can use the code “ARCEUS20,” while those in Europe can use the code “ARCEUS2016.”

If you acquired Arceus from a previous distribution event, you will not be able to redeem the code for another one.

Fire Emblem Fates Manga On Hold

Fire Emblem Fates character artist Yusuke Kozaki announced today on his Twitter that work on the manga adaptation of the 3DS SRPG has been suspended.

“Regarding the Fire Emblem manga, due to various circumstances, right now the plans have essentially been suspended. Everyone who was looking forward to it, we are deeply sorry. Personally speaking, I would like to draw FE as a manga one way or another.”

Kozaki and Fates writer Shin Kibayashi were both tied to the project, which was originally scheduled for release before the end of 2015.

Pokémon Sun and Moon Second Global Mission Is Live

Beginning today, Pokémon Sun and Moon players can band together and earn Festival Coins by completing this month’s Global Mission.

Trainers all over the world have until January 9 to catch or knock out a combined total of 1 million Pokémon. If they are successful, they will receive 2,017 Festival Coins to spend in Sun and Moon‘s Festival Plaza. If not, they will receive a consolation prize of 217 Festival Coins.

As a bonus for players that tied their game to a Pokémon Global Link account, they will receive 4,034 or 434 Festival Coins, depending on the Mission’s outcome.

First 4 Figures Reveal Upcoming Meta Ridley Statue

First 4 Figures yesterday teased a work-in-progress sample of a new statue they are working on of Meta Ridley from the Metroid universe.

The exact size and scale have not yet been revealed. They also have not announced a release date or price for Meta Ridley.

Earlier this year, First 4 Figures launched a 1/4 scale Metroid Master Arts line with a statue of Samus’ Light Suit. Another statue, based on Samus’ Varia Suit, is coming in Q1 2017. An exclusive variant that lights up will also be available around that time.

This Week in Games: “Merry… Christmas!” Edition

The last retail Wii U game of 2016 comes out this week. It’s an honor that gets to go to the “Risky Beats” edition of Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. The special release includes a soundtrack CD with select songs from the game.

Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS Cannot Be Used On Multiple 3DSes Without First Deleting Save Data

Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS is not a good game for people who like to share their games with other 3DS owners. Due to the way the game ties save data across both the game card and the 3DS’ SD card, players will not be able to play the game on a different 3DS without first deleting the save data on the game card.

Nintendo Considering Releasing Two to Three Mobile Titles A Year

In a recent interview with Kyoto Shimbun, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima said the company is considering releasing two to three mobile games a year beginning in 2017.

The announcement comes after last week’s successful launch of Super Mario Run on iOS. Just today, Nintendo celebrated the game exceeding 50 million downloads worldwide. Kimishima added that the game has met expectations and he believes the game could even surpass 100 million downloads.

Nintendo currently have two known games in development for mobile, Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing, which are both scheduled for release by the end of March.

eShop Thursday: “HD Half-Genie” Edition

Shantae Half- Genie Hero is now out in the Wii U eShop. Kickstarter backers have had access to the game since last week, but it is finally available for everyone else.

Also heading to the Wii U this week is the Virtual Console release of Mario Party 2. It’s just in time to create even more animosity and tension between friends and family during the holidays!
