I remember knowing a lot of people in high school who were really into Ragnarok Online. It was my first MMO, and it is responsible for my gross dislike of much of the genre’s shortcomings — mindless clicking, grinding, unrewarding experience. With Ragnarok DS sticking close to its PC sibling, it’s safe to say that the not-so-massively multiplayer online RPG for the DS is not my cup of tea.

If you are enticed by the thought of slaughtering porings with a stylus, you may want to check out Ragnarok DS when it comes out February. If you’re playing the PC MMO, pre-ordering the DS game will score you four items to use in RO in addition to three that come with every copy.

• Audumra’s benefit: increased experience points and damage from monsters
• Odin Mask: additional damage against certain monsters
• Hermode Cap: increased attack speed
• Bijofnil’s wing decoration: chance of increasing minimum and maximum weapon attack

The three items that come with every copy of Ragnarok DS:

• Shaman earring: increases intelligence
• Shaman ring: increases maximum HP and SP recovery
• Shaman’s hair decoration: increased resistance to attacks
