Nintendo is Dead Last in Greenpeace’s “Greener Electronics” Report

Category: Uncategorized

International environmental organization Greenpeace published its latest “Guide to Greener Electronics” report for May 2010, and Nintendo has come in dead last with a score of 1.8 out of 10. A marginal improvement over their score of 1.4 back in January.

That score, however, is misleading. As it turns out, Nintendo simply doesn’t provide Greenpeace with any materials they request.

From Greenpeace’s Questions page.

“Of the current 18 companies in the Guide only Nintendo has to date not responded to any requests for relevant information on their environment policy and practice. More info on Nintendo and the ranking can be found on our weblog.”

It seems a bit shady that Greenpeace would still list the company, especially without clearly noting that they do not have complete information on the company’s environmental practices.

As for some of the other companies, Sony ranked highest among the console manufacturers with a score of 4.5 while Microsoft moved up a place from 17 to 16 with a score of 3.3.
