Unofficial apps that let Pokémon GO players discover exactly where certain Pokémon are spawning have been growing more popular as people struggle to catch ’em all, but John Hanke, CEO of the game’s developer Niantic, is not exactly pleased with their proliferation.

In an interview with Forbes, he cautioned users of those apps that they may be rendered nonfunctional in the future.

“Yeah, I don’t really like that.” Hanke said. “Not a fan.

“We have priorities right now but they might find in the future that those things may not work. People are only hurting themselves because it takes some fun out of the game. People are hacking around trying to take data out of our system and that’s against our terms of service.”

Last weekend during San Diego Comic-Con, Hanke outlined some of the plans the company has for Pokémon GO moving forward.
