  • Release Date: February 26, 2011 for ¥25,000 ($300USD)
  • North America and Europe in March. No Price.
  • Launch colors: Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black.

[Update: Video of the presentation is available on Nintendo Japan’s site. Also, tons of new links to trailers and screens added]

We’re only a hour away from the big 3DS announcement. People everywhere are… probably not caring. Let’s face it, only a small chunk of avid video game enthusiasts would really care about an announcement like a system release date or price, let alone every person in the world.

I guess this would be a good time to throw out some last minute predictions.

As I’ve said before, I’m not expecting this thing to go over $200. I think a good price point would be $189.

Color-wise, I’m guessing Nintendo will launch in the three colors provided in the E3 media materials: Black, Blue and Red. Though, I imagine Nintendo has other colors they’ll save for slumping sales. They did it with every handheld since the original Game Boy, after all.

And we finally come to the subject of the release date. I’m going to say Nintendo will release the 3DS in Japan sometime late in November. It’ll give it some time to get hyped up before a holiday rush. As for the rest of the world, I’m going to take a bit of a wilder prediction and say it will be out in North America this year. Maybe sometime in early December. I have no real basis for this, but, hey, a prediction’s a prediction. Europe and Australia? I see them getting shafted yet again with a release squeaking into February or March 2011.

With that, it’s time to wait for the show to start! We’ll try to keep up with all the new bits of info as it trickles in. You can follow us after the break.
