Surprise! Japan Still Loves Dragon Quest
Judging from Media Create’s sales numbers for this week, that is.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie debuted this past week and people came out in droves to buy the DS remake of a Super Famicom classic. Within a week of its release, the game managed to sell over 900,000 copies, easily taking the top spot and trumping another newcomer, SEGA’s End of Eternity.
To help put DQVI‘s massive week one showing into perspective, in only one week, the game managed to outsell Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep‘s total sales to date! Its not so much a surprise for Valkyria 2 since it only came out 2 weeks ago, but Birth by Sleep had a one month head start!
Japan really does love their Dragon Quest.
