It’s a possibility that we could see Pit in a new adventure on the Wii, if the fans really want it, according to Yoshio Sakamoto, one of the developers on the original Kid Icarus for the NES.

“I don’t know personally about any project underway regarding ‘Kid Icarus,’” said the developer to Kotaku, “but if so many of those people are interested in it and really want to see it on the Wii they should really speak up,”

Public demand for Pit’s return isn’t the only thing holding back a new adventure. The development team that would be responsible for the title would have to come up with a play style that is suited for the Wii.

“If we can find some sort of way to bring it to the Wii, a way to make the game for the Wii that makes sense, we would happily do so,” Sakamoto said. “But just keep in mind it may not be me making the game.”

I have no clue what Sakamoto is talking about regarding fans needing to speak up. I’m pretty sure there’s always been a vocal demand for a new Kid Icarus. It may not be anywhere near the level of Mother/Earthbound fans, but there is still a fairly large contingent that wants to see Pit back for more than just an appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Maybe we should get to work on some sort of PK Mail’n for Kid Icarus.
