Club Nintendo Gives Refunds to Members That Picked Up Super Metroid Last Month
Last month, Club Nintendo offered members download codes for Super Metroid in exchange for 150 Coins. However, starting next week, Nintendo will begin selling the game on the Wii U for 30 cents as part of the Virtual Console Trial Campaign.
Since it’s a bit unfair to those unaware of the Wii U promotion, Nintendo is refunding the 150 Coins to Wii U owning members that purchased the game. As a gesture of good faith, the company is letting those members keep the download code for use on their Wii or Wii U.
Affected members received the following e-mail from Nintendo:
Dear Club Nintendo Member,
Thank you for your recent order of Super Metroid from Club Nintendo. We’re sending this notification to let you know this title will be available from the Nintendo eShop for Wii U for 30 cents, as part of a special promotion starting on May 15.
Because you are a Wii U owner, we have refunded the 150 Coins you redeemed for Super Metroid. You may still use the code you received to download the game for free to play on Wii or Wii U. We hope you enjoy your game, and visit Club Nintendo again soon.
It did seem like a weird decision to make Super Metroid a Club Nintendo game so close to the Trial Campaign promotion, but this seems to be an adequate fix for anyone that may have felt slighted.

Not content with releasing multiple new handheld colors, Nintendo is now making colored 3DS LL charging cradles available to Japanese Club Nintendo members for 200 Coins a piece.
While it may seem vain having a charging cradle to match your 3DS LL, it’s worth remembering that the handheld didn’t come with a charger and cradle when it launched in Japan.
