Reminder: September 30 is the Last Day to Add DSi Points

With the Nintendo DSi Shop scheduled to close on March 31, 2017, Nintendo is reminding anyone still using the online storefront that they will be removing the ability to add Nintendo DSi Points to your system on September 30.

While users will no longer be able to purchase DSi software from the DSi Shop after March, most DSiWare is already available for purchase in the 3DS eShop.

eShop Thursday: “Gee, I’ve Been Saved (Some Money) By Fox. How Swell” Edition

Star Fox Zero is now available for pre-purchase today in the eShop. If you buy either the digital version of Star Fox Zero or Star Fox Guard, you automatically receive a $4.99 discount towards the other game, effectively making the two cost the same as the physical bundle.

Today also marks the start of the Super Spring Sale in the eShop. Not only is it a chance to save up to 30 percent off a selection of Wii U and 3DS games, it is also a good opportunity to earn some My Nintendo points.

eShop Thursday: “Now Open” Edition

The new online game store on is now open. It’s now easier to browse, search and filter through the catalog of downloadable titles available for the 3DS or Wii U and have them sent directly to your system.

Additionally, purchases made beginning today also qualify for My Nintendo Gold points, which can be put toward discounts on future eShop purchases.

eShop Thursday: “The War Against Giygas!” Edition

EarthBound is out today on the 3DS Virtual Console! Sure, it may only be playable on the New 3DS, but it will no doubt make a few people “H…a…p…p…y…”

Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario Kart also tag along as the other SNES games to head to the New 3DS.

Hyrule Warriors Legends unlocks at midnight. As previously mentioned, it is heavily recommended that the game be played on a New 3DS for the most optimal performance.

On the Wii U, there’s the Virtual Console release of Yoshi’s Story and the Director’s Cut version of Shantae: Risky’s Revenge.

eShop Thursday: “Waiting on that Tekken x Pokkén Crossover” Edition

Nintendo is currently hosting the Pokkén Tournament Early Access Tournament in the Nintendo New York store today. The Twitch stream is about halfway done as of the time of this post, but the recording should be available shortly after it wraps up. It might be a good place to start learning combos and strategies before the game comes out tomorrow.

Mutant Mudds Super Challenge is out today and supports cross-buy, so you only have to pay $9.99 to get it on both the Wii U and 3DS.

The 3DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games comes out tomorrow, well ahead of the Wii U release, which is scheduled for June 24.

eShop Thursday: “Zero” Edition

Zero was a pretty special number at this year’s E3. After all, it was the number:

  • used in the next Star Fox game
  • …of f**ks given by the general public for Nintendo’s Digital Event
  • used in the unofficial title for the English version of the first Mother game: EarthBound Zero

Earlier this week, Nintendo and Mother series creator Shigesato Itoi revealed that the NES prequel to EarthBound is already out in the Wii U eShop as EarthBound Beginnings. This is the first time the game has been officially made available in North America.

Also out this week, the Wii U Virtual Console release of Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones and an application that allows the 3DS to be used as a controller in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U without the need for the 3DS version of the game.

Nintendo is also currently offering up to 30 percent off various first- and third-party games on the 3DS and Wii U.

eShop Thursday: “A Fancy Word for ‘Demo'” Edition

Stretchmo, the newest game in the Pushmo series, is out now. Nintendo is billing the game as “free-to-start,” but it’s really just a demo. You can play through the first seven puzzles for free, but you will have to pay for additional puzzle packs.

There’s a sale on a handful of Capcom games for the Wii U and 3DS starting today and going on until May 28.

Rounding things out, on the Virtual Console, we have both Mega Man Battle Network 3 games and New Super Mario Bros.

eShop Thursday: “No Squiddin’ Around” Edition

Nintendo is holding the Splatoon Global Testfire tomorrow and Saturday. It’ll be a chance for everyone that downloaded the free demo in the eShop to try out the Turf War mode online.

It’s also the first Thursday of May, meaning “Mega May” is here. Your votes have been tallied and Mega Man & Bass is the first Mega Man game coming to the Virtual Console this month.

You can now download amiibo tap, Nintendo’s amiibo-driven NES and SNES demo showcase. Unless you have a compatible figure, the software is essentially useless.

Among the noteworthy titles coming out this week are the demo for Puzzle & Dragons Super Mario Bros. Edition for the 3DS and Paper Mario on the Wii U Virtual Console.

eShop Thursday: “Finding Out The B Button Does Something” Edition

Mario Kart 8‘s free 200cc update is out today along with the game’s second paid DLC pack, which features content from Animal Crossing.

If that weren’t enough Mario Kart for you, Mario Kart DS is now available on the Wii U Virtual Console this week.

Capcom is planning to bring more classic Mega Man games to the Virtual Console and they want you to decide which one you want to see released first next month.
