Namco Bandai Releasing Project X Zone eShop Demo in Europe This Week

A demo for Banpresto and Monolith Soft’s Namco/Capcom/SEGA 3DS crossover RPG is coming to Europe’s eShop this Thursday.

Despite the game coming out in North America sooner than in Europe, 3DS owners stateside won’t be getting the demo just yet. According to a Namco Bandai representative speaking to Siliconera, “We will not be releasing the demo here this week. Once I have a solid date for the North American release, I’ll be happy to share that with you.”

Project X Zone comes out in North America on June 25 and in Europe on July 5.

Sonic: Lost World Coming to Japan This Fall

Sonic’s Wii U/3DS outing is dated for fall 2013, according to SEGA of Japan’s official facebook page.

Rough translation of the company’s message:

“Sonic The latest series of [Pick Up SEGA] long-awaited announcement at last!

At last!
The latest of “Sonic” series – I was presented

As for the name ”
Sonic Lost World “!
♪ It is expected to release in the fall of 2013 in two models of Nintendo 3DS/Wii U

Although you can not tell only about this just yet …
Please look forward to the follow-up to be worried about ☆”

SEGA hasn’t stated whether the date is just for the Japanese release. Until one is announced, it is assumed that it only applies to Japan.

There’s Still One Unannounced Nintendo Sonic Exclusive

During yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, company president Satoru Iwata announced that they would be partnering with SEGA to bring new Sonic games to Nintendo systems.

According to a press release sent out by SEGA, the partnership is a three-game deal.

“Sonic the Hedgehog has performed incredibly well on Nintendo platforms and this exclusive partnership is a natural fit for the next evolution of Sonic games” commented Jurgen Post COO SEGA Europe Ltd.  “The Wii U and Nintendo 3DS are ideal platforms to showcase Sonic and we are looking forward to working with Nintendo on these three exciting adventures.”

Kotaku got ahold of a SEGA representative who says that the game announced during the Nintendo Direct stream – a new Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games and Sonic: Lost World — make up for two of the games in the deal.

Rumors are buzzing that the third game may be a possible Mario Kart/Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing crossover after Steve Lycett, executive producer at All-Stars Racing developer Sumo Digital, posted a series of messages on Twitter.

SEGA Has Seven Games Planned for the Wii U, Six for the 3DS

SEGA posted their yearly financial results and revealed that they are planning to release seven games for the Wii U and six games for the 3DS before the end of the fiscal year which ends on March 2014.

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed was the company’s most successful title this year, selling 1.36 million units in Europe and the U.S. The Wii U version sold 310,000 copies while the 3DS version sold 190,000 copies.

SEGA Giving the Original Sonic the Hedgehog the 3D Treatment

After porting Space Harrier and Super Hang-On to the 3DS with enhanced 3D effects, SEGA is doing the same with the original Sonic the Hedgehog.

The game is set to hit the Japanese eShop on May 15 for ¥600.

So far, none of SEGA’s 3D ports have been released outside of Japan, but here’s to hoping Sonic will be the first.

SEGA Announces Port of Super Hang-On for 3DS

Super Hang On 3DS

SEGA’s arcade hit Super Hang-On is being ported to the 3DS with fancy stereoscopic 3D elements.

Last year, SEGA re-released an enhanced version of Space Harrier for the 3DS.

Super Hang-On is set to come out on March 27 in the Japanese eShop. It’s priced at ¥600 (≈$6).

3D Space Harrier Gets Rated in Australia

Looks like the 3DS remake of SEGA’s arcade classic Space Harrier may be heading out of Japan.

3D Space Harrier was recently listed and rated by the Australian government, suggesting a possible release in the region.

Of course, board ratings are not absolute confirmations of a release, but this is a very favorable sign.

Project X Zone Coming to North America, Europe and Australia this Summer

Banpresto and Monolith Soft’s crossover RPG Project X Zone will be coming to 3DSes in North America, Europe and Australia this summer.

Released last October in Japan, Project X Zone features characters from various Namco Bandai, SEGA and Capcom franchises in a tactical RPG. The game’s website claims the game features more than 200 ally and enemy characters. This number doesn’t include characters that appear in event cutscenes.

Namco Bandai hasn’t announced a specific release date, but at least we know it’s coming.

SEGA Suing Level-5 Over Inazuma Eleven Patent Infringements

Yomiuri Online reports that SEGA is suing Level-5 for ¥900 hundred million (≈$11 million) and requesting the halt of all sales of Level-5′s Inazuma Eleven series.

The reason behind the suit is revolves around the soccer game’s control scheme. SEGA claims Inazuma Eleven‘s control scheme, which involves controlling players with a finger or stylus on a touchscreen, infringes on a couple of patents owned by SEGA.

Level-5 hasn’t issued an official comment, but they did say they are prepared to fight the suit.
