Alright, puzzle-heads and exploration junkies, we’ve got some cool news to break up your endless feed scroll. Fresh off the wire today, developer Gazuntype has announced that their atmospheric maze-crawler, Go North, is officially heading to the Nintendo Switch in Q1 2026.

This isn’t your grandpa’s graph-paper labyrinth. Go North is built on one beautifully simple, yet undoubtedly maddening, rule: the exit is always north. Your character, Dara, is on a quest to have a single wish granted by the elusive Maze God. The catch? To find him, you have to solve his ever-shifting, deviously clever mazes.

Wander, Don’t Sprint

If your anxiety spikes at the thought of timers or game-over screens, breathe easy. Go North is firmly in the “chill vibes” camp, taking clear inspiration from the likes of A Short Hike and Journey. You’re encouraged to stop and smell the roses—or in this case, the thicketed forests, twisted indoor corridors, and floating sky islands.

The game is a passion project from solo developer Tade Ajiboye, and it proudly showcases the award-winning creativity emerging from West Africa. It’s a welcome and fresh perspective for the adventure genre.

Your Toolkit of Mystical Weirdness

What really has my attention is the suite of strange tools you’ll use to navigate. This isn’t about finding a key for a door; it’s about using forgotten, magi-tech artifacts to outsmart the maze itself.

You’ll be:

  • Sending out mystical birds to scout the path ahead.
  • Floating up in a protective bubble to get a bird’s-eye view.
  • Dropping abandoned street signs as breadcrumbs (a genius touch).
  • Speeding around on a friggin’ hoverboard.
  • Using magical powder that subtly guides you toward your goal.

And everywhere you turn, you’ll meet curious characters—both the Maze Makers who built these devilish places and other hopefuls like you, all racing for their own wish.

For the Chill and the Thrill

As Tade Ajiboye himself puts it, the game caters to all playstyles:

“Whether you’re looking for a relaxing experience or you’re a daring speedrunner, Go North has so much to offer. If you want to take all the time in the world to search every nook and cranny, you will be rewarded with rare items. If you want to find the nearest hoverboard and speed to the exit faster than anyone else, you can do that, too.”

So, whether you’re a completionist or a speed-demon, mark your calendars for early 2026. This is one unique adventure that deserves a spot on your wishlist.
