We all have those days where the weight of the world—or maybe just a frustratingly tough boss fight—gets us down. If you’re in need of a genuine, heartwarming pick-me-up, we’ve just found the perfect remedy.
A delightful video from Killer Carp has been making the rounds, and it features Jan, a 91-year-old Nintendo fan whose joy for gaming is utterly infectious. It’s a potent reminder that passion has no age limit.
Jan’s journey with Nintendo started with an N64 and Super Mario 64, but it was The Legend of Zelda series that truly captured her heart. The video is a wonderful stroll down memory lane, with Jan offering her candid, charming thoughts on some of Link’s most iconic adventures.
Her take on The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is an absolute highlight. Shaking her fist at the memory, she exclaims:
“That mask is somethin’ else. That son of a gun! You wanna… Oooooh!”
We felt that. We’ve all been there, Jan.
In a world where it’s easy to get caught up in negativity or worry about what others think, Jan’s pure, unfiltered enjoyment is a breath of fresh air. She’s a real treasure, simply embracing what she loves and losing herself in the adventure.
She leaves us with a piece of wisdom that’s too good not to share:
“When you find your passion, stay with it, because it’s the best time of your life. You don’t get tired of it, you look forward to doing it over and over again, and you’re at your happiest you’ve ever been.”
Words to live by, whether your passion is gaming, painting, gardening, or anything else that sets your soul alight.
So, we have to ask: Do you reckon you’ll still be playing Nintendo games when you’re in your 90s? Let us know in the comments, and be sure to share your love for Jan and her amazing collection!
