Mark your calendars, power up your browsers, and ready your hype engines! Nintendo has officially announced the date for the next big showcase of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and it’s just around the cosmic corner.

The second official Nintendo Direct for the Illumination sequel will premiere this Sunday, 25th January 2026. This is our next major look at the film before it warps into cinemas worldwide on 3rd April 2026.

The previous Direct already delivered two stellar casting reveals: the mischievous Bowser Jr. and the enigmatic Rosalina are confirmed to be joining the adventure. But the universe is a big place, and the cast is clearly getting bigger.

In a recent interview, everyone’s favourite plumbing hero (or at least his voice), Chris Pratt, teased that “more recognisable characters” will be making their appearance. This has sent the rumor mills into hyperdrive.

Will we finally see the long-rumoured, eagerly anticipated debut of Yoshi? Could this be the Direct where King Bob-omb or a Luma takes center stage? Tune in this Sunday to find out!
