Well, here’s a nostalgia bomb I wasn’t expecting on a Wednesday afternoon. After almost nine years, Capcom’s wonderful The Disney Afternoon Collection is finally, finally heading to a Nintendo platform. And in a move that’s sure to cause some envy, it’s apparently an exclusive for Switch and Switch 2.
That’s right, under the new stewardship of Atari and the preservation wizards at Digital Eclipse (the folks behind the amazing Atari 50 collection), classics like DuckTales, Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, and TaleSpin are coming back to the console they always belonged on. The original 2017 collection was a fantastic tribute to the NES era, and putting it on a hybrid system just feels right.
As the original article cheekily puts it, this is great news for Nintendo owners, even if it means rubbing it in a little for everyone else. We don’t have a specific date yet beyond “heading to” the systems, but knowing Digital Eclipse’s track record, we can expect a loving, faithful port. Time to start saving up those nickels and dimes for Scrooge’s Money Bin all over again.
