It looks like the latest entry in the Pokemon franchise, Pokemon Pokopia, is off to an incredible start on the Nintendo Switch 2. Despite the controversy surrounding its use of a game-key card, the title is proving to be a massive commercial success, with stock disappearing from shelves worldwide.
Let’s take a look at the situation in the U.S., where the demand is most apparent. Major retailers including Best Buy, Walmart, and Target are currently unable to take orders for the game due to a lack of stock.
Amazon technically still has the game available, but in a strange turn of events, they have increased the price to $80—a likely move to capitalize on the current hype and limited availability. This scarcity is also reflected in the latest UK sales charts, where Pokemon Pokopia landed at a strong second place in its debut week, only beaten by the powerful Resident Evil Requiem.
