Super Mario Galaxy Movie gets additional $24.6 million on Thursday

Holy gravitational pull, Batman. The Super Mario Galaxy movie just scooped up an *additional* $24.6 million on Thursday alone, and at this point we should probably just hand Nintendo a blank check and let them do whatever they want forever.

Thursday numbers are kind of a big deal in the movie world — they’re the first peek behind the curtain before a full opening weekend explodes (or, you know, doesn’t). And $24.6 million on a *single Thursday* tells you everything you need to know: people are absolutely losing their minds for this one.

For context, the original Super Mario Bros. Movie back in 2023 had a monster opening and went on to become one of the highest-grossing animated films ever. So expectations for a Galaxy follow-up were already through the stratosphere — and it looks like Illumination and Nintendo are delivering the goods. Rosalina better have a killer monologue, that’s all we’re saying.

Whether you grew up tilting the Wii remote at your TV at 2am or you’re just a casual fan who cried during the Luma scenes (no judgment, we ALL did), this movie clearly has people racing to the theaters in droves.

So we want to know — **did YOU catch the Galaxy movie on Thursday? Drop your spoiler-free thoughts in the comments below!**
