If you've been trying to play through Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness on the Switch 2 GameCube app and hitting a wall, help has arrived.

Nintendo has pushed out version 1.6.1 of the GameCube – Nintendo Classics app, and the headline fix is a crash that was hitting players during Shadow Lugia encounters. The game would forcibly close mid-play, which is annoying enough on its own — but the bigger problem was the risk of losing save data if you weren't keeping up with save states.

Nintendo acknowledged the issue back on March 24 and said they were looking into it, so this is a fairly quick turnaround on a targeted fix.

There's nothing else notable in the update — no new games added to the library, no extra features. Just this one patch. But if Pokémon XD is your thing (and it absolutely should be, it's great), now's a good time to boot it back up.
